A vibrant hub for sport and community

Halmstad SportCenter, previously known as Söndrumshallen, is a well-established sports facility in Halmstad, operated as a cooperative association. Over the years, the venue has played an important role in nurturing young athletes, some of whom have gone on to successful careers. One example is Sofia Arvidsson, featured in one of the images – best known as a tennis player, but with Swedish Championship titles in no fewer than three sports: table tennis, tennis and, most recently, padel.

What truly defines Halmstad SportCenter is the constant sense of activity. Athletes of all ages, from young children to seniors, share the space in an environment full of energy and movement. The facility hosts gymnastics as well as tennis, squash, badminton and padel – often taking place simultaneously.

Despite the high level of activity, visitors are met with a comfortable sound environment regardless of the sport being played. To achieve this, Akustikmiljö, part of Götessons Design Group, was commissioned to install sound-absorbing solutions in all halls. The process began with a test installation on one of the tennis courts, which quickly became the most popular to book – particularly among the coaches. The positive outcome led to the same acoustic concept being implemented throughout the entire facility.

The upgrade extends beyond the courts themselves. Several secondary areas have also been enhanced, including the area surrounding the centre court in the padel hall. Here, a welcoming setting has been created with seating, poufs and greenery – all made from 100 per cent reused products, contributing to both comfort and sustainability.
